CONNECTED CHURCH LAMB, Bangladesh

Light in the Darkness September 2016

What is or was the best excuse you have given for not doing your homework? Notes to leader: This is a question to get people interested and engaged in the story. You could ask people to talk to the person next to them first and then feed back to you. Then say… this week we’re hearing about children in Bangladesh who had a different excuse - it was too dark to do their homework!

Most houses in rural Bangladesh don’t have electricity Most houses in rural Bangladesh don’t have electricity. So when children do their homework in the evening they often use Kerosene lamps. The lamps are dirty, smelly, and bad for your eyes.

Many students were getting bad results or dropping out of school because they couldn’t do their homework in the dark. Education is very important for getting out of poverty. So those who had to leave school were very disadvantaged.

The difference for the students has been incredible! LAMB gave solar panels to eight churches and 28 families so they could have light in the evening. The difference for the students has been incredible! Notes to leader: This is one older pupil called Rufina studying in the evening thanks to her solar panel. She says ‘This solar panel has been so helpful for my study. Thank you so much!’

Church Leader Simon told LAMB that the students were so grateful Church Leader Simon told LAMB that the students were so grateful. They now go to the church every evening to do their homework together in the light! Notes to leader: The picture shows the children studying together in the church.

PRAYER Thank God for this solution that will change lives Ask God to help these pupils with their school work, so they can succeed

We would love your church to pray for LAMB’s work regularly. The next slide is a set postcards with this story on them: Print them out Cut them up Give to people to take home
