Big Q: What do I need to revise the Organisms test? Sunday, 09 December 2018 Big Q: What do I need to revise the Organisms test? Starter: List as many similarities and differences as you can between all of these different types of cells.

8. Name 3 types of joints and examples. Sketch an animal & plant cells. Include labels and functions (Diagrams in your book) 2. Write a brief method or use diagrams of how to observe a plant or animal cell under the microscope. 3. Name an animal and plant specialised cells. Include how they are adapted to do its job. (specialised cell table) 4. Use a diagram to show how diffusion works and include the definition. 5. Name 2 unicellular organisms and describe how they are different to humans. 6. Show the levels of organisation in a human being for one type of organ system. 7. Name 4 ways in which the skeleton is good for us and name the main bones found in the head, arm, leg and back. 8. Name 3 types of joints and examples. 9. Name 2 antagonistic muscles and use diagrams to show how they work together. 10. Highlight any keywords on your revision poster. 11. Add diagrams to help you remember certain facts. 12. Revise ready for your test next lesson! (test yourself by covering info up).

Draw cells and match the parts of the cell to the correct cell Draw cells and match the parts of the cell to the correct cell. Some parts are in both animal and plant cells! Chloroplasts – green bits which contain chlorophyll for photosynthesis. Cytoplasm – where the chemical reactions that go on in the cell happen. Cell membrane – lets substances such as dissolved gasses in and out of the cell. Vacuole – A space inside the cell filled with a watery liquid. This helps the cell to keep its shape. Animal cell Cell wall – a tough, supporting wall made from cellulose. It’s like a cardboard box surrounding the cell. It helps the cell keep its shape. Plant cell Nucleus– acts like the brain of the cell. Where all the information is held.

Only Plant Plant & Animal Chloroplasts – green bits which contain chlorophyll for photosynthesis. Cytoplasm – where the chemical reactions that go on in the cell happen. Cell membrane – lets substances such as dissolved gasses in and out of the cell. Vacuole – A space inside the cell filled with a watery liquid. This helps the cell to keep its shape. Pupils sort – could ask to come to computer to drag and drop?

What you need to include: Labelled diagram of plant and animal cells and what the structures do. (around the room) Description of cells, tissues and organs. Draw blood cells (red, white), sperm, egg, ciliated and nerve cells and how they are specialised. Description of the cells, tissues and organs found in plants. Description of what an organ transplant is. Include the parts of a microscope EXT: What is the difference between the method of viewing a cheek cell and onion cell under a microscope

Cells recap test Answer in full sentences on your paper. 1. What is the meaning of the word ‘cell’. 2. What is the function of the nucleus? 3. What is the function of the cytoplasm? 4. What is the function of the cell membrane? 5. Give three similarities between animal and plant cells. 6. Give three differences between animal and plant cells. 7. What is a chloroplast? 8. What is a cell vacuole? 9. What is the cell wall? 10. Describe the job of a red blood cell and a white blood cell. 11. How is the sperm cell suited to its job? 12. Give a reason why a person might have an organ transplant.

Peer assess homework A plant cell and animal cell drawn 2 stars – 2 things they include (WWW) A wish – what did they not include? (EBI) A plant cell and animal cell drawn Images are drawn as seen under the microscope Parts of each cell is labelled The function of each part is written down There are clear differences shown between the 2 cells
