Presentation transcript:

Acute Hepatitis B- first 6 months after someone is exposed to hepatitis B virus. infection with a very mild infection with no or few symptoms. Some people can fight the infection back and clear the virus

Chronic Hepatitis B- when the virus remains in a person’s body. Over time, the infection can cause serious problems. 1 out of 4 people with chronic Hepatitis B develop serious heath problems such as liver damage, liver disease and liver cancer.

Hepatitis B spreads when blood, semen or other body fluids from a infected person enters in a non infected persons body. This can happen through Sexual contact Sharing needle or syringe Using the same shaving blades It infects babies after birth from the infected mother. It does not spread through breastfeeding, kissing, hugging, holding hands, coughing or sneezing.

Diagnosed with blood test For acute Hepatitis B rest, adequate nutrition, fluids, and monitoring. For chronic hepatitis B monitoring on regular basis, checking for liver problem and medications

Undergoes intracellular phosphorylation to an active triphosphate form. It inhibits all three activities of the HBV polymerase

1. Base priming 2. Reverse transcription of the negative strand from the pregenomic messenger RNA 3. Synthesis of the positive strand of HBV DNA It inhibits-

Entecavir is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations occurring within 1.5 hours of administration. Dosage and Administration: The dose is 0.5mg/day with or without food, whilst in lamviduine-refractory patients the dose is 1mg/day taken on an empty stomach.

Teviral ensures reduction and sustained suppression of HBV DNA level less than 300 copies per ml (<300copies/ml) after long term treatment.

Teviral significantly lowers the risk of death or liver transplantation in Hepatitis B patients.

We can see that Barcavir (Incepta) is selling 17 Box/Month/MSO territories where we are selling only 8 boxes. Cavir (Square) is selling 7 Box/Month/MSO territories; very soon they are going to surpass us if we do not take necessary steps.

Foviral is also used in Hepatitis B. In vivo it is converted to tenofovir which exhibits activity. It is also used in case of HIV infections to decrease the amount of HIV in body.

Tenofovir disoproxil Fumarate works by stopping the virus from multiplying, this reduces the amount of virus in the body. it ties up the reverse transcriptase enzyme so it cannot build the genetic material needed to make more virus and infect more cells.

Provides superb treatment success within a short period of time.
