Steps in the Inventing Process Brainstorm Identify Design Create Change Judge Market Today, you will be working on the process of changing your designs.

Review What is an invention? Make it Easier—how we can help students with disabilities/difficulties What about in the school setting?

Class Activity Design something that makes it easier for people with a physical handicap—wheelchair, walkers, canes, crutches–to get around school. We will create a class drawing on the board

Importance of Revising a Design Someone else’s ideas can help you make good changes. They make sure your idea is practical and efficient. Sometimes we have to update old inventions to make the relevant and useful.

Group Work In your groups, look at the design the class created… Try and think of some ways you can change the design to make it better. Draw a new version of the design and answer the questions on the worksheet.

Class Discussion What modifications/changes were made during the process of revising the design? What did each person in the group do?

Inventions How would you test your product to make sure it works? How would you make your design better?
