Encouraging independence in Textiles 6th form students Amy Richardson

Strategies introduced Calendar counting down the days until the resit for AS

“Textiles Time” Specific times went the students, the room and I am free so they can complete coursework.

Edmodo Encouraging the students to read more and to share their thoughts and opinions

Current affairs I posted links to different articles to try and encourage the students to deepen their knowledge and link Textiles to what's happening I the news.

Effectiveness? Students have said they are reading the articles I have posted, but have not posted any of their own I think it is important for the students to widen their knowledge and reading, so to carry this on, I will try and enforce that one student each week uploads one article/picture with a rota and reminders “Textiles Time” has worked well with some students returning every week, others have not come at all Students say they work better at home and are planning on using the room more when we are doing practical The majority of students who take Textiles also take Art and spend a lot of time in there working too
