BUT YOU HAVE TO BE WITH AN ORGANIZATION

Understanding an Organization

Definition and Concept of an Organization An organization is a SOCIAL SYSTEM of people who are structured and managed to meet some GOALS. It is an ONGOING system and the STRUCTURE determines the RELATIONSHIP between the functions and positions. STRUCTURE also SUBDIVIDES ROLES, responsibilities and authority to carry out the TASKS. Organizations are OPEN SYSTEMS which are affected by the environment outside its boundary.

SOCIAL SYSTEM Though business is an economic activity, we should not forget the fact that it is the society which gives it sanctity. So business has to depend upon the society for its survival and hence, business as an economic system depends upon the social system in which it exists. Society can change the rules of business, it can give lot of freedom to business or even it can force the business to close down So every young entrepreneur or business man should understand and accept the power of the society.

Goals All businesses, whether big or small, have a goal. It may be implicit in small organizations and often well expressed in large ones. Society too has a goal The business goal should not go against the goals of the society. Every business unit has got a structure and creating a structure is about grouping similar works and doing it effectively. Structure help us to introduce specialization. Eg. Marketing, finance etc Structure & Management

Ongoing Concern The business will grow and is intended to go on forever. Even if a business die, the purpose of its design was not to die but to survive. It can die because we do not care for some of its structures and systems. There exists workplace relationship between individuals and departments. Without developing proper relationship, team work becomes impossible. Relationship
