3 Strategic management planning What is the difference between a plan and a strategic management plan? A Plan is what we want to do. An SMP sets out not only what we want to do but how were going to do it. Example: shopping

4 Strategic management planning How many of you have a plan for your life? But are they strategic management plans? We would now like to share with you the steps used in developing a strategic management plan.

5 Strategic management planning Step 1- Initiate and agree on a Strategic Planning Process You have to identify the benefits for having a strategic management plan for your life/organization and the key people to be involved in the drawing up of the SMP.

6 Strategic management planning Step 2- The Identification of the Organizational Goals You must identify what goals you want to achieve in your strategic management plan. to be a goal it must be: S S pecific, M M easurable A A chievable R R ealistic T T ime bound
