The Language of love A difficult matter Melanie Bertossi Class 4ALS Year 2013/2014

Table of contents Introduction: Love through the ages The different types of love The difficulty of loving Expressing love What does it mean “the right one”? Love is . . . Conclusion

It was difficult then as it is now… Love through the ages Modern day love is no different to the love in the Shakespearian Era, or for that matter in Roman times; It was difficult then as it is now…

Different types of love Between a couple First love Friendship (Love between close friends) Family (Love within the family and extended family members) Siblings (Love between brothers and sisters) Children (Love a parent has for their child) But today, we’re talking about the first point: Love between a couple

Why is love difficult? It isn’t always easy to express ourselves and what we feel; Difficulty in finding the right person; Once you find “the right one”, it takes hard work to keep that love alive and always full of surprises and joy; In some cases the love can be forbidden;

Forbidden love In some countries there is still up to this day forbidden love: that is love between family’s feuding or religion; Some are able to overcome these problems and others not; This kind of love places a lot of stress on the relationship E.G. – Romeo & Juliet

Expressing love Love can be expressed in many ways: Speech Eye contact Touch Sharing Gifts

What does it mean «the right one»? It’s not always easy to find the right person for you, once found: You must accept them for who they are Not wanting to change them dramatically Remember! You fell in love with who they were, NOT for what they will become – a big mistake many couples make.

Love is… Love = RESPECT = TRUST = SHARING = HONOUR = SACRIFICE You NEED to work at relationships to keep them alive

my thoughts on love « It is better to have loved and lost As you can see the language of love has always been a difficult matter to define. Love means different things to different people. However, as difficult at it may be at times, remember: « It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all » - Alfred Lord Tennyson
