Green Design Green design is the philosophy of designing products that caters to social, ecological and economic sustainability. Green design considers: Production of furniture (socially & technologically) Packaging and distribution Reusability and recyclability Toxicity during fabrication and use Biodegradability
Green Design Green furniture promotes materials that are: Free of toxic gases Reusable, recyclable and renewable Biodegradable
Packaging and Distribution IKEA's furniture is designed to be self assembled. This reduces costs and use of packaging materials. Flat-pack methods allowing for easier transport.
Recyclable Bar and Knell produces furniture from 100% recycled plastic. Plastic packaging waste is used to produce useful everyday items.
Recyclable The GUBI Chair II consists of two recyclable materials: Steel tubing and PET fiber. Plastic bottles are made into PET felt mats. In one single process two mats made from this felt are molded around a steel tube frame, water cut, reducing the cost and time of production.
