Treasurer’s Report – (Wendy Hillman) Audited Financial Year Accounts New Preparation Procedures of Annual Audit Report Accounting and Reporting procedures

Presentation of Audited Financial Year Accounts The audited accounts of the association for the financial year, 2008-2009 have been circulated to members of the Executive and the Association. The auditors were Geraghty Accountants (formerly known as: E.J. Sinclair and Co) of Brisbane.

Auditor’s letter ‘…the accounts of the Australian Sociological Association, are properly drawn up in accordance with the provisions of the Association Incorporation Act (A.CT.) 1991, so as to present fairly the financial position of the Association as at June 30, 2009 and are in accordance with Statements of Accounting Concepts and Australian Accounting Standards’.

The Student Awards and Assistance Funds TASA maintains a separate account for these activities. Reserves of $39 389.75 from the previous year were increased $612.30 by donations and interest. The reserves now stand at $40,002.05.

TASA Main Accounts: Net Surplus/Deficit Surplus/Deficit (at June 30, 2008) is down on previous year. Decrease of $100,153.94

Operations Accounts Main income is from membership subscriptions and royalty payments Total income - $118,447.40 Total expenditure - $218,601.34

Membership fee adjustment The constitution allows the executive to increase the membership fees each year in line with CPI increases for that year. The CPI for 2008-2009 was 1.5%
