Aims of Year 4 Independence and Critical Thinking The ability to think critically and analyse a given situation. Transference of Skills To build on the skills already acquired in Year 3 and use these skills across the curriculum. Bilingualism Children will be expected to increase their use of welsh around the school.
Daily Timetable Guided Reading every morning First Lesson – Mathematics Second Lesson – English Welsh Drilling sessions - 10 minutes every afternoon Third Session – Topic Based Work/Foundation Subject Fourth Session – Topic Based Work/Foundation Subject
Rewarding! Throughout the year the children are presented with awards for their effort and achievements. Class Dojo Class awards given through star of the week. House points awarded. Attendance Awards. Headteacher Awards.
Topics Wild West Robots Around the World
This year there will be a big emphasis on digital competency and how the children use technology to enhance their learning. Children will hit these digital competency skills through the work that they do on Hwb. All children have their own Hwb account which they can access from school and at home. Their account includes: Their own email address Office 365 (microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, onedrive) Encyclopedia Britannica Access to J2e
Homework Friday – Mental Maths Homework Any topic work given will usually be completed over a number of weeks. Regular practise of x tables and regular reading Targets
Working Together Reading – weekly reading and regular reading at home Maths homework P.E kit for P.E and Games lessons Sharing information or concerns your child may have
What to do if you have any worries or queries……. Please speak to the class teacher either before/after school and make an appointment. Speak to one of the class TA’s. Request a meeting with Mrs Norman. Any other member of staff would be happy to speak to you if you request a meeting.
