2012 Math SOL Questions Test will be a mixture of multiple choice (MC), ≈ 85% and technology-enhanced (TE), ≈ 15% Need to compare other subjects use of TE All tests will have 60 questions (10 are field test) 2011 EPAT Multiple choice questions seemed to require more complex thought than previous years (2002, 2003) Test pass/fail lines are unknown and will be drawn after fall block courses early this coming spring VA DOE expects scores to drop across the state

Vertical Curriculum Development VA DOE has posted drafts of a vertical outline for Alg I, Geometry and Alg II No plans to update them Expects schools to use them as a starting point We need to develop vertical curriculum maps County had planned on doing it, but Dr Rhodes moved on Need to know what our students are supposed to know coming into our courses To support MMS’s advanced math initiative These students will not get portions of 7th and 8th grade SOL requirements Alg I and Geometry teachers need to be aware of the additional topics that they will need to cover
