Section 8-10 Gladwell tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Borgenicht moved from Europe to New York to find a better life. They started by making a garment industry, after realizing it wasn’t successful, they moved onto childrens aprons. After having the success of the aprons, they were able to open their own factory and hire employees. Gladwell's main point of this section was that the value that their culture placed on work had a strong influence on the families and children of these garment workers.
Section 11 1980 research of sociologists on the outcome of the children of people like Mr. and Mrts. Borgenicht. Looking back at Joe Flom's story, his father used to sew on shoulder pads for women's dresses. He grew up knowing that hard work and initiative leads to success. Having parents who were garment workers had a very large advantage.
Section 12 Gladwell summarizes his main points of the chapter by saying that these jewish people all had things in common such as: taking advantage of presented opportunities, had perfect timing, and had a cultural heritage that taught him how to succeed in this culture.
