How far did you remember…? Concept: An author’s purpose is his reason for or intent in writing. An author’s purpose may be to amuse the reader, to persuade the reader, to inform the reader. Homework Key Answer: 1.To entertain 2.To persuade 3.To inform 4.To inform 5.To entertain Direction: Read the paragraphs carefully and write if the author’s purpose is to persuade, to inform or to entertain. 1. Joe had been fishing for almost two hours without a single bite. Suddenly there was a nibble at the end of the fishing line. He stood up on the boat and leaned out too far. Just then there was a sharp yank on the line. Joe fell overboard and landed head first into the water. Joe and his friends laughed and laughed. 2. The giant panda is a bearlike animal that has thick white fur with black markings on its ears, limbs, shoulders, and around its eyes. The giant panda feeds on bamboo forests at high altitudes in western China. It also eat bulbs, roots, eggs, and some small mammals. The cubs are born in late winter. Our objective for today is…. Use a particular kind of sentence in following & giving directions.

Do you know how the game “Musical Chairs” be played…? “Musical Chairs” At least five players are needed. Chairs, one less than the number of players and music are also needed. Arrange the chairs in a circle. Have the players do the following. 1.Walk or dance around the circle of chairs while the music plays. 2.Grab a chair to sit on when the music stops. 3.Eliminate the player who does not find a chair. 4.Remove one chair and begin the game again. 5.Do steps 1 to 4 until only one player is left. 6.Declare the player who stays on as the winner.

Always remember that…. Concept: Imperative sentences are used to issue a command or instruction, or offer advice. Basically, they tell people what to do To make an affirmative imperative, use the base form of the verb with no conjugation. Ex. Close the door. Open the window. To make a negative imperative, use do + not + base verb Ex. Do not go in my bedroom. Don’t eat junk foods.

Fixing of skill… Direction: Rewrite the following questions to imperative sentence. 1. Will you eat that pizza? (negative) 2. Would you lend me a money? (affirmative) 3. Will you take this note to the principal? (affirmative) 4. Did you divide your paper into two? (affirmative) 5. Do you cook pork chops for dinner? (negative)
