About Me My name is Paola Clark. I am half-Mexican and was raised in a bilingual household. I graduated from Whitney High School and William Jessup University. I love the Office and Harry Potter. I have an adorable corgi named RUpert. I like to garden and bake when I’m not playing with my pup.

Expectations In this class, students will be expected to: be respectful to others at all times ask questions and respond when others ask participate and be engaged

Spanish Essential Standards Interpersonal Communication: I can communicate with others Presentational Speaking: I can present information to others through speaking Presentational Writing: I can present information to others through writing Interpretive Listening: I can listen to information and understand it Interpretive Reading: I can read information and understand it Students will learn to create and understand basic oral and written sentences in the present tense Students will gain knowledge of basic vocabulary and grammar structure in the present tense

Interesting Topics In Spanish 1, students enjoy: Talking about themselves and others Talking about food Learning different cultural traditions such as Day of the Dead and Quinceañeras

Trips Miss Monaco and I are taking a group of students to Spain France and Italy in February of 2018 Parent Meeting Sept. 12th at 6 PM Mrs. Serrano and I are taking a group of students to Mexico City and the Yucatan in June of 2018 I’ll be hosting parent information meetings soon about these trips

Success Everyday, students need: Something to take notes in (notebook, binder, etc.) Writing Utensil Charged Chromebook Spanish 1 Textbook It is important that students practice their Spanish frequently outside of class.

Study Skills Students need to practice the language daily to enhance their mastery Have your student teach you or younger siblings what they learned in class Students can watch familiar movies in Spanish There are many YouTube videos on various subjects that can help your student practice Repetition, repetition, repetition Complete homework and other assignments QUizlet (search my username: Paola_Clark4 for already made classes) DuoLingo is an app students can use to practice at home I am available before/after school by appointment
