EM For Livestock Production What is EM? Who discovered EM Technology? How was EM introduced in Cameroon Where can we get good EM Products here

EM IN LIVESTOCK

SOME PROBLEMS FACED IN THE LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION Disease outbreaks High mortality Retarded Growth Infertility Odour from animal barns Poor quality of animal products

EM Products use in livestock production EM BOKASHI: Feed additive EM For Livestock: Build their immune system EM.5 as a disinfectant

EM Bokashi and its Uses Mix 3kg of EM Bokashi into a bag of 50kg for chicks Mix 5kg into a bag of 50kg for Pigs and other animals Given to birds and animals on daily bases. EM Bokashi helps detoxify the feed Boast growth Odour elimination

IMPORTANCE OF BOKASHI WHEN ENCORPORATED IN ANIMAL FEED EM Bokashi mineralized, multiply the nutrients in feed and detoxifies the feed When taken by livestock improves the intestinal micro flora. The digestive process is stimulated and the health of animals is improved. The foul odour is suppressed. The animal or birds will experience growth in weight and size.

EM® FOR LIVESTOCK AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. EM for Livestock is given in drinking water for animals ‘three days’ a week. EM for Livestock is also used to eliminate mal odour Mal odour in any environment, livestock barns, standing water and also to spray silage to give it a high nutritive value for animals.

EM for Livestock mod of applications For Chicks 1 cork per 3 liters of chlorine free water for chicks. Give 4mls or 1 cork per liter of chlorine free water three days a week for big animals. 20mls /1 liter Or 3 tin tomatoes cup / 15 liters of chlorine free water to spray in animal barns and other smelling environment to control mal odour. For Piggery 1 cork per liters of chlorine free water. Mix it in their drinking water or feed Give a cork directly to a pig to encourage digestion Apply EM.5 directly on wons and spray on body for ectoparasides

IMPORTANCE OF EM IN LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION It acts like antibiotics and vitamins hence increases appetite EM suppresses foul odour in livestock sheds It promotes digestion It detoxifies feed, increase feed conversion and promote growth in weight and size EM decreases flies, ticks and other harmful insert, thus enhances animal health EM reduces the stress factors in animals and enhances immunity against diseases EM helps to improve the quality of animal products EM helps in reducing the regular application of drugs It deoxidizes the feed and make the nutrients ready for the animals It increase fecundity EM in pond will first of all destroy Algae bloom that will influence the growth of plankton, purify and detoxify the pond and hence produce healthy fish It purifies the water for animals to drink EM build the immunity of animals against diseases outbreak

MODE OF APPLICATION OF EM AND BOKASHI IN LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION Type of livestock Stage of growth Percentage of Bokashi in feed Dosage of AEM solution in drinking water Chicken All 3kg/ bag of 50kg feed - 1 cork/ 3liter Pigs 5kg/ bag of 50kg feed 4ml / liter 2corks or 1ml / Beef cattle Calf Heifer Adult 30g per day with milk 50g per day 4ml /liter - 1: 250liters

Milk cattle Goats Calf Adult Nannies and bucks 30g -50g mixed with milk per day - 100g – 150g per day - 30g -50g per day with feed - 4ml / liter - 1:250-500liters Fish - Ferment food with bokashi or feed with 1:10 000liters Pets -Cats - Dogs 10g per day with feed 30g per day with feed. - 1 teaspoon full mixed in food - 1 table spoon full mixed with food Cane rates All 5kg / bag of feed and must be pelleted 4ml/ liter Rabbits 5kg/ bag of 50kg feed 1:250-500liters Or 4ml/ liter Honey bee Bee hive 10ml/ liter

EM.5 EM.5 is use externally to control skin diseases like fungi, Ezema, mites, ticks, lice, rabies, etc Mode of application Mix 20ml into 1liter chlorine free water and spray on animals against ticks. Or Also 3 tin tomatoes cup per 15liters of chlorine free water to spray on animals. Or 1 liter into 50liters of chlorine free water and spray animals for ticks and pests control twice a month. In case of complicated fungi and skin problems e.g foot rot, foot and mouth disease in cattle, moist mange, etc rub directly three days a week for two weeks. Use 40mls or 8 corks / liter of chlorine free water to disinfect the animal barn after each batch of livestock. This same concentration can also be used in footbath but has to be in a bucket so that after use it is sent to the house and the solution can stay for 5 days before being thrown on growing plants.

EM FOR ODOUR CONTROL IN THE ANIMALS’ BARNS Mix 1 tin tomato cup with chlorine free water to eliminate odour, flies and other harmful insects. Or 4 corks or 20mls in 1 liter chlorine free water Also use 3 tin tomatoes cup in 15 liters of chlorine free water to spray silage so as to increase the nutrient content.

CONCLUSION The first thing to do in livestock production is keep the environment neat
