Our Mission The mission of Haven of Hope on Wheels (HOHOW) is to provide the homeless access to showers, laundry & grooming services in the most convenient way possible, which in turn they will be able to seek and hold jobs, make medical appointments and in general have a sense of personal pride.

History of our Establishment HOHOW is a program established through the Oroville Southside Community Improvement Association (OSCIA), a 501c(3) nonprofit corporation. OSCIA was founded in 2009 with the focus of helping the underserved with resources: healthcare, health education, employment and training needs of residents, and their relationship with local government.

History of our Establishment Organize yearly events that focus on community cohesion: - Martin Luther King Day - sponsoring an annual Easter egg hunt - “Juneteenth” picnic to commemorate the Emancipation Proclamation In 2016 OSCIA acquired management of the Southside Oroville Community Center (SOCC) – through the acquirement has been able to turn the Center completely around financially.

Why Haven of Hope on Wheels? The homeless lack adequate access to hot showers and laundry facilities, and it is a key reason many do not seek employment, routine preventative medical care, housing assistance and other social services for which they are eligible.

Why HOHOW Continued Consequently, homeless individuals segregate themselves from mainstream society and suffer the societal stigma associated with poor hygiene. Our solution is a mobile hygiene and outreach program called Haven of Hope on Wheels, developed and operated by OSCIA

Why HOHOW Continued Homeless PIT Census Stats for Butte County: “There were 1,983 individuals experiencing homelessness in January of 2017, this marks a 76% increase in homelessness since the last PIT count (2015)” - Butte Countywide Homeless Continuum of Care (CoC)

Dignity on Wheels

Success Stories A chronically homeless man had a severe skin condition because he was not able to shower regularly. He began utilizing our Dignity on Wheels services twice weekly and his condition cleared up.

Success Stories A homeless man started utilizing our services. After taking a shower and washing his clothes he said, “Now I can go to a job interview.” His self esteem was greatly improved and he is on the road to self-sufficiency.

Success Stories A local City Council member said, “The countenance of the homeless has changed because of Dignity on Wheels.” A lady began utilizing Dignity on Wheels in Half Moon Bay. One of case managers approached her and got her on a housing list. She is now in permanent supportive housing thanks to Dignity on Wheels.

HOHOW Daily Operations (Client): 1. Client uses HOHOW services 2. Staff clean facilities after each use 3. Session closes and HOHOW staff inspect and clean the trailer and return to headquarters 4. Case managers follow up with clients who utilize HOHOW services

HOHOW Operations (Admin): 1. The HOHOW Project Coordinator establishes the Host Sites and creates the schedule. 2. The Host Site conducts outreach to get clients for the shower/laundry services. 3. The Fleet Manager preps the truck and trailer. 4. The Driver and Intake Specialist set-up the trailer at the host site and check in with the Host Site staff. 5. The Intake Worker processes the clients
