New Spring Semester PLC Cycle

PLC Communication Take 1 minute…Identify how the Spring Semester PLC Cycle essential standard and all pertaining notes will be shared with all PLC members, Department Chair, and Administrator. Google Docs Dropbox Wikispaces

Step 1: Identify Essential Standards 1.1 Brainstorm possible student needs to work on in your content area, while incorporating RWAC (graphic). Review one or more of the following: assessment results, final exams, CCSS, state content standards, curriculum guides, unit tests, student work samples, or grading rubrics.

Step 1 Continued 1.2 Choose one need (or two related needs) from 1.1. From your notes above, identify one common student need that you would like to address as a team. Consider one or more of the following: • Is it likely to foster a rich discussion about student learning? • Is it a critical skill or concept? Is it an essential component of the curriculum? • Has it proved to be challenging to teach and/or difficult for students to learn?

Step 1 Continued 1.3 Define the need. Take a few minutes to individually define and/or clarify the common student need identified in 1.2, then share your ideas as a team and work to finalize the definition. Use specific language to explain exactly what it means. Reference CCSS, state standards, tests, rubrics, RWAC graphic, and student work as needed.

Closure Memorialize debrief notes Identify and post essential standard(s) PRIDE connection Announcements: Faculty Meeting-Today! WASC mock-Thursday, January 29, 2015 PLC Lead meeting-Tuesday, February 3, 2015
