What is JEDDS UK? The JEDDS Office UK was set up with funding from JISC, to promote and provide technical support for, Ariel 2.1. Promotion of this software is aimed at UK HE Institutions 12/25/2018

JEDDS and software trouble shooting. Observations from the Support Office of the National Library of Australia have given us an excellent technical background in the use and implementation of Ariel 2.1 software, ready for our UK users ! 12/25/2018

What exactly is Ariel 2.1  (1) Ariel 2.1  is an innovative scanning and document file transfer program for the Windows ‘95 and NT operating systems. 12/25/2018

What exactly is Ariel 2.1  (2) Ariel 2.1  reproduces scanned documents with great clarity and detail. It can cope with complex diagrams or the tiniest of footnotes with ease. 12/25/2018

What exactly is Ariel 2.1  (screen 3) As a result of its scanning capabilities, Ariel 2.1  has excellent implications for Libraries, Science, Technology and Medical departments. 12/25/2018

Technical help from the JEDDS UK Office The JEDDS UK office will support HE Institutions in all aspects of troubleshooting Ariel 2.1 ™. If an unknown problem occurs, I will get back to you as soon as possible with a solution, and maintain contact until your problem is solved. 12/25/2018

File Transfer Once a document has been scanned, Ariel 2.1 can be sent to any other Ariel station, via the Internet, using File Transfer Protocol. 12/25/2018

File transfer via E-mail It is also possible to send documents to an end users e-mail desktop, providing that the e-mail program is MIME compliant and the PC has Ariel 2.1  receiving software. 12/25/2018

Can I only obtain 1 copy of Ariel 2.1 ™? No! There is no limit to the number of licences your Institution can receive. 12/25/2018

Why is Ariel so beneficial to HE’s? Many UK Universities are already using Ariel, primarily in Libraries, although its use is now rapidly spreading to different departments.There are also many users abroad. 12/25/2018

A word about copyright (1) Because of the nature of Ariel 2.1™, we recommend that you take great care not to infringe copyright law. Once a document has been sent, there is a feature on Ariel 2.1™ which will automatically delete the document after transmission. 12/25/2018

A word about copyright (2) Likewise, once a received document has been printed, the scanned document should be deleted from the received queue. Again, Ariel 2.1™ has a facility to do this. 12/25/2018
