WannaCry Ransomware Overview

UNDERSTANDING WANNACRY Why was the speed so vast? Why you should NEVER pay the ransom The new strands of ransomware to know The evolving thread of ransomware How to recover from an attack How to protect yourself from future infections

WHAT IS RANSOMWARE? Ransomware is a malicious software that installs covertly on a victims computer. Simple ransomware may lock the system and display a message requesting payment to unlock it. More advanced variants encrypt a victim’s files, making them inaccessible, demanding a ransom payment to decrypt them. Ransomware attacks are typically carried out using a Trojan that has a payload disguised as a legitimate file, usually as an email attachment, or download from a website.
