Swedish schoolsystem http://www.omsvenskaskolan.se/engelska/det-haer-aer-den-svenska-skolan/

Introduction/professional profiles of guidance Every school has at least one person in professional guiding position (depending on the number of students) who has the responsibility for different programs. Furthermore, carrier guidance is supposed to be a concern for teachers as well as the specific professionals.

Schooling for emigrants All young refugees aged between 16 – 18 start their studies on what we call ”IM språk” (language introduction, preparing for studies on national programs).

The target group of YouRNI The specific professionals have a role of supporting both teachers and students when it comes to preparing for further studies or working life. Young refugees need a lot of information about the school system and how the working market is arranged, what skills are needed to be prepared for job seeking and the various kinds of professions on the working market.

Examples of guidance services and activities   To motivate and support young refugees, coaches are used to work with social-mental health amongst the young refugees. This is a co-operation between teachers – professional guidance – coaches. The use of different “tools” to support the refugees to tell their life story, experience has shown that it is easier to motivate and talk about the future when you build on the refugee’s own life. Teachers working with group dynamics to process and handle the trauma which often is a part of these young persons’ lives. Projects with UF (junior achievement) are carried out to be a motivator in the learning process.

The expectations from YouRNI Hear about good examples to be able to develop our methods Exchange of good ideas for group dynamics Find digital tools for better language developing and carrier guidance and for increasing motivation Share good practices from working with Europass

Questions to the audience? How important is the age when you decide what kind of education that is possible? What language skills are required in other countries? In Sweden you need basic English before you can apply for a national gymnasium
