General water-related objectives of the Hungarian EU presidency To add further impetus to the on-going debate on water, especially with regard to climate change related extreme events and water scarcity, ecosystem services and transboundary cooperation, both intra-Community and on the international level To draw up Council conclusions underlining the necessity of integrating these aspects into EU policies, building on the achievements of preceding presidencies To contribute to the preparation of the Commission’s Blue-print for EU’s water and to the final assessment of the 6th Environmental Action Programme To put a special emphasis on water in the framework of the Danube Region Strategy – Adaptation of the DRS at Council meeting June 2011.
