Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba What is PQF? It is a national policy describing the levels of educational qualifications and sets the standards for qualification outcomes. A quality assured national system for the development, recognition and award of qualifications based on standards of knowledge, skills and values acquired in different ways and methods by learners and workers of a certain country It is competency-based and labor market driven. It is assessment- based qualification recognition. TESDA

THE PHILIPPINE EDUCATION SYSTEM

PQF Levels 8 7 6 5 Level Description Doctoral Degree and Post-Doctoral Programs Graduates at this level have highly advanced systematic knowledge and skills in a highly specialized and/or complex multidisciplinary field of learning for complex research and/or professional practice and/or for the advancement of learning 7 Post-Baccalaureate Program Graduates at this level have advanced knowledge and skills in specialized or multidisciplinary field of study for professional practice, self-directed research and/or lifelong learning 6 Baccalaureate Graduates at this level will have a broad and coherent knowledge and skills in their field of study for professional work and lifelong learning 5 DIPLOMA Knowledge and skills that are mainly theoretical and/or abstract with significant depth in some areas together with wide-ranging, specialized technical, creative and conceptual skills. Perform work activities demonstrating breadth, depth and complexity in the planning and initiation of alternative approaches to skills and knowledge applications across a broad range of technical and/or management requirements, evaluation and coordination.

PQF Levels 4 3 2 1 NCIV NCIII NC II NC I Description 4 NCIV Knowledge and skills are mainly theoretical and/or abstract with significant depth in one or more areas; contributing to technical solutions of a non-routine or contingency nature; evaluation and analysis of current practices and the development of new criteria and procedures. 3 NCIII Knowledge and skills are a balance of theoretical and practical. Work involves understanding work process, contributing to problem solving and making decisions to determine process, equipment and materials to be used. 2 NC II Knowledge and skills that are manual, practical and/or operational in focus with a variety of options. 1 NC I Knowledge and skills that are manual or concrete or practical and/or operational in focus.

Implications DepEd, TESDA, and CHED will have to coordinate programs for seamless progression; Ensure that programs are defined in terms of “competencies;” Undertake review of curricula offerings in respective schools; Prepare faculty, instructional materials
