Resumes & RECOMMENDATIONS November 7, 2016 Senior Night A resume is a document that sums up your skills, experiences and accomplishments. Resumes don’t all look alike, but there are some general guidelines.

College Applications Applications open around August 1st Deadlines start in early fall Early admissions deadlines often coincide with campus scholarship deadlines.

Obtaining Teacher and Counselor Recommendations Although many public universities do not require the recommendation letter a part of their application process, almost all universities require the recommendation letter when the applicant is applying for scholarships. Highly selective universities and many private universities still prefer using their own application instead of the common application, and this type of application process usually requires recommendations from teachers as well as counselors.

The way you write your resume is important The way you write your resume is important. Resumes generally feature clear, short descriptions. You don’t have to use full sentences, but you have to be consistent with punctuation.
