Percent Applications Project By: Mackenzie L.

OPPS! My Bad! Coin: Penny Nickel Dime My Measurement: 18.50mm 20.00mm 16.50mm Actual: 19.05mm 21.21mm 17.90mm % Of Error: 2.89% 5.7% 7.82%

Steps 1. Take your ruler and measure the length of the coin you are using (in mm). 2. Then go to the internet and find the actual length of the coin in mm. 3. Find the percent of error you do the measured subtracted from the actual and then divide the difference by the exact, then you will get a decimal. Then move the decimal two places to the right, or multiply the decimal by 100. This turns the decimal into a percent, the percent is how far away you were from the actual amount.

Real World We use Percent applications in our everyday life. When ever you go out to eat you have to find the tax which involves percent applications and when you want to tip your waiter you also use percent applications. When ever you go shopping there is always a tax and to find the tax of anything you have to use percent applications.

Vocabulary The word percent it’s self means a rate or proportion per hundred. An allowance, commission, or rate of interest calculated by percent. This is based off the power of 10.
