Supporting Y11 Students for Summer Examinations

Study Support Offer What is it? Less formal than a normal lesson but focussed on specific target grades (L4+, L5+, L7+) 3-4pm with subject teachers in subject areas Started small (Maths & English) and growing rapidly. Now all subjects have sessions running Students are selected based on data but can ask to come along as well As data changes so will the list of invited students Why is it happening? Small steps of improvement now will translate into larger gains by the end of Y11 Avoids ‘cramming’ at the last minute

Maths Support Offer Revise now. It’s never too early. Don’t just copy the notes but actively do questions! Practice – Practice - Practice! Hegarty maths for homework and independent learning – this site has many instructional videos to enable your child to become independent learners. There are many revision sites that are useful we recommend the use of https://corbettmaths.com/ here you will find many revision tools. Buy a decent calculator, bring it to school and use it – we recommend casio fx series. Other Subjects Successful introduction in English & Maths Now widened the offer to other subjects Invites based on data and also students asking to attend All subjects have countdown plans (soon on website) – & up around the school Managing & monitoring student attendance Mr Tunnicliffe keeping an overview of which students are attending when to avoid any one student attending too many. Discussed on an individual level and revisited as needed. Regular contact with tutors to follow up when students don’t attend. If a student is finding they are being asked to attend 2 sessions on the same night they must let me know. (I can prioritise for them & speak to staff).
