What is Civics?

Rights & Responsibilities Civics is the study of the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen. A Right is a privilege or a claim to something. Responsibilities are duties to other people, the government, or society.

Citizenship A Citizen is a member of a community who has rights and responsibilities. A Community is a group of people who share an environment. Based on the definition of community how many communities can you are you a part of?

What is Government?

People and Power Government is the group of people in power in order to make rules, provide services, and lead a community in a specific plan.

Journal #2 What does it mean to be a leader? What are some traits you feel a leader needs?

Government Powers Legitimacy is the popular acceptance of an authority. Authority is the justification and right to exercise that power. Sovereignty is the ability to independently self govern.
