House Fires By Jordan Pollack

These things all have one thing in common. Fire. Blaze. Conflagration. Inferno. Flames. Combustion. Hurricane. Cyclone. Monsoon. Typhoon. Whirlwind. Tornado. Funnel. Gale. Squall. Earthquake. Tremor. Convulsion. Upheaval. These things all have one thing in common.

Destruction.

But which is the worst? According to my recent survey taken at a local high school, I concluded almost 75% of students thought that hurricanes cause the most amount of damage overall and that house fires have caused a lesser amount of damage.

Home fires occur every 85 seconds and cause massive harm each day: Home fires kill more Americans than earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornados combined. Home fires occur every 85 seconds and cause massive harm each day: 7 people die 36 people are injured $18 million in damage to homes http://www.projectparadigm.org/study-dangers-home-fires

"Stop, drop, and roll," was a very common saying as a middle schooler attending a fire safety class. Most of the fire safety classes that we are taught as children and young adolescents is about what we are supposed to do if a fire happens. We develop an emergency exit plan and go to the neighbors for help. But what about talking about how we can prevent house fires from happening in the first place?

Cooking The leading cause of house fires is cooking. I believe we all should make our kitchens more fire proof, with still making the design look nice. I propose the country makes it mandatory to put admiralty brass-rectangular prism spray nozzles connected to a tank filled with Novec 1230, which is also known as carbon dioxide, above stove tops and the top of every oven. Fire is made from fuel, oxygen, and heat. Carbon dioxide stops the fire from growing. Like a smoke detector, the nozzles will have a sensor that can detect when a fire is about to start and will be able to prevent it from happening. If the sensor doesn't detect it in time, they can still detect it before it gets to the point of the smoke detectors going off and having a full-blown house fire.

Diagram Nozzle Carbon Dioxide Fire Stove

With this new geometric design, we could diminish the leading cause of house fires and then look to more research and ideas for the rest of the minor causes of house fires. Also, this cutting-edge model will produce more advertising of fire safety and prevention. According to my local firemen's association, they think this design will overall benefit the community and possibly get more people interested in the efforts to help reduce the number of house fires.

Proof Conditional Statement: If somebody died of a house fire, then it is most likely from cooking. 1. Leading cause of house fires is cooking. 2. Things to be done about preventing house fires. 3. Product filled with Novec 1230 and sprayed when oven fire is detected so doesn't turn into house fire. 1. Given 2. Newly designed ovens with special product. 3. More house fires detected and less deaths.

Plan of Action Raise awareness of the dangers of house fires and funding of this idea. Even if this idea doesn't come true, somebody else could think of something if they are aware of the dangers of house fires.
