Week 11 Vocab Definitions

Life Functions essential activities for all living things Transport How organisms move what they need to and from cells Excretion How organisms get rid of their waste and balance their fluids (pH, glucose concentration, water)

Regulation How organisms control their body processes (Endocrine & Nervous system) Respiration How organisms exchange gasses with the environment (O2 & CO2) Nutrition How organisms break down food and obtain nutrients

Synthesis How organisms build necessary organic molecules (proteins, carbs, lipids, nucleic acids) Reproduction Ensures the continuation of a species. Can be sexual or asexual. Growth & development Series of changes an organism goes through during its lifetime.
