Conferences may be scheduled: Mornings 7:00-7:15 Afternoons 2:45-3:30 Phone conferences available from 8:05-8:50

Independent Writing/Conferencing Writer’s Workshop Three parts Conferencing Share-time Four genres: Narrative Informational Procedural Response to Literature Closing 10-15 min. Mini-lesson 10-15 min. Independent Writing/Conferencing 30-45 min.

Words Their Way Spelling and Grammar Phonics curriculum Focuses on specific sounds (ex. long vowels) and blends (ex. consonant diagraphs) Sort words according to their sounds. Spelling words High frequency words Skill for words their way

Math & Grammar Rap 10-15 minutes Ongoing review of math & language skills concepts Reinforces previously taught skills Continuous repetition of skills Helps prepare students for CRCT

The Standards Based Report Card…… The standards-based report card will use the following system to report progress: 3+ exceeds standards in a consistent manner 3 consistently meeting the standard 2 progressing toward meeting the standard 1 limited or minimum progress toward meeting the standard When using a standards-based report card, each student is assessed to determine to what extent (3+,3, 2, or 1) he/she demonstrates mastery of the standard.

Behavior Each clip will begin on green. Breaking rules results in warning (except severe behavior) Your child will progress from green, to yellow, then red for further infractions. Red and yellow results in note or phone call.

How can you help your child? Assist your child with his or her homework. Homework will be collected on Friday Review the work in your child’s folder nightly Visit our class website. Read our classroom newsletter to see what we are learning Read with your child nightly and encourage your child to read Become an active member of our PTA

Snack Time……. Daily in the morning. A healthy fruit or vegetable is provided daily. Students may also bring a healthy snack from home. No candy, juice boxes or soft drinks Water is permitted in a leak proof container.

Things to Remember….. Keep your child’s lunch account paid and send your child’s money in an envelope. If your child’s method of transportation changes, send a note to school to let me know Check your child’s folder nightly and remove any of the work that might be in the Keep At Home Side. Sign agenda daily
