FQ: How can I revise my Political Systems Thematic Essay? Do Now Examine the Thematic Essay Rubric What are the main differences that separate a level 2 and a level 4 essay according to the thematic rubric? What is the difference between a DBQ and Thematic Essay Question? What are you still unclear or not understanding about the thematic essay rubric? Words or concepts? Agenda 10 min: Do Now 20 min: Anchor Essay Peer Review 30 min: Revise Thematic Essay (Peer Edit)

Thematic Essay: Political Systems Theme: Political Systems Political systems have affected the history and culture of nations and societies Task: Choose two different political systems and for each • Describe the characteristics of the political system • Discuss how the political system has affected the history or culture of a specific nation or society

Anchor Essay Peer Review Directions: As a group read, discuss, and reflect on the elements found in the anchor essay Complete the Anchor Essay observation sheet Decide what grade the essay should receive Provide suggestions to any errors your group observes in the essay.   Suggested Role: Scribe (during the discussion)- then everyone copies the notes

Homework Using the comments re-write your essay to score a level 5. Hand in both the draft and the final re-write. Label on top of the essay “draft” and “final essay”. Also include the peer feedback sheet. Note: Your essay should not look the same for both draft and final essay (this would mean you did not complete the assignment).
