Spanish 1 Gracias por venir.

I am taking Spanish because… Spanish will help me build connections with other people when I am older. My grandpa is from Mexico City

I am taking Spanish because… I think knowing another language is cool and I know you have to take Spanish or another language at some point so why not take it now.

I am taking Spanish because… Large parts of my life have been spent moving around, like from Poland to here and then to Switzerland and then back here. During that time I've gotten to know many, many, languages and found myself very interested in learning more. Having the ability to understand and speak many languages is something very useful that I want to have in my life.

I am taking Spanish because… Jane the Virgin, the Netflix show is my favorite, and it's always good to learn more than one language.

A little bit more on fluency. About 600 hours required of exposure and practice. In a typical school year, students are exposed 40-50 minutes a day, five times a week for about 30 weeks. This is about 150 hours. To obtain the recommended 600 hours, a student must take 5 years of a language.

Sometimes I am a different character in different languages Sometimes I am a different character in different languages. I have different enjoyment from them. Sometimes different answers come out of me. Like, I didn’t even know that about me. I get to know myself through different languages actually. -Roger Federer
