The Programme in the Liberal Arts and Sciences (PLAS) To offer a top-class programme of studies in the ‘liberal studies’ tradition. To enhance the University’s ongoing outreach initiative. To provide an alternative, flexible and learner-oriented study path, especially for adult and returning learners. To offer opportunities of personal and professional development (incl. CPD). Broad range of ‘stand alone’ study-units in areas such as archaeology, history, literature, culture, conservation, philosophy, economics, public policy, migration, music, European affairs, biology, theatre, medicine, earth systems, marketing, art, astronomy, sociology, politics, wine-making, chemistry, architecture, law, photography … Around 20 study-units are offered every semester

Registration and Accreditation All units are accredited by the University of Malta as part of PLAS. Upon completion of the assessment requirements of each Unit, a Certificate of Achievement will be issued by University of Malta (incl. ECTS value and MQF level). Possibility of transferring previous ECTS credits. For the duration of your studies, PLAS students benefit from: Access to LIBRARY SERVICES, including print publications, over 60,000 electronic journals, a wide spectrum of online databases, ebooks collection, OAR@UoM – Institutional Repository, Melitensia Collection. IT ACCOUNT AND SERVICES, including access the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for this Unit: lecture materials and notes can be shared, and an online forum that allows students to communicate with lecturers and fellow students.

Foundations of Online Teaching and Learning LAS1047 Foundations of Online Teaching and Learning Aimed at higher, further and adult education institutions. Delivered almost entirely in the online environment via MOODLE VLE. One face-to-face introductory meeting.
Games for Learning: Creating Effective Game Experiences for Learning LAS2035 Games for Learning: Creating Effective Game Experiences for Learning Offered in collaboration with the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of ICT (Prof. A. Dingli and Dr V. Camilleri) Aimed primarily at educators wishing to develop skills in game experiences. Delivered entirely in the online environment via MOODLE VLE. Synchronous meeting sessions via Twitter and Google Hangouts.
