Gideon E. Moore Gideon E. Moore was born in 1842 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a teenager when he first started losing his hearing. He was beginning to become more and more deaf each year. He became deaf after attending Yale College.
Gideon E. Moore Gideon went to Yale College and graduated in 1861. He also went to the University of Heidelberg and graduated in 1869. He went to Germany to study chemistry and get a Ph.D at the University of Heidelberg . Copyright 1996-2000 Yale University
Gideon Moore Gideon Moore discovered a crystal. He named the crystal, Brushite after his favorite science teacher at Yale University, George Brush. The crystal to the left was given to George Brush and JD Dana by Gideon Moore. The following is the only known photo of a brushite specimen. It is part of the Brush Collection, # MIN.3.00613, of the Peabody Museum at Yale University. The photo may not be reproduced without written consent from the Peabody Museum.
Crowns of Austria-Hungary Gideon E. Moore Gideon knew the following languages: Greek, Latin, Hebrew, German, and French. He was married to the daughter of General Baron Sznacz of the Austro-Hungarian army. He had difficulty living in two different worlds; a hearing world and a Deaf world. He was not accepted by the Deaf community because he became Deaf at such a late age. Communicating with the hearing world was also a challenge. Gideon Moore Gideon E. Moore died on April 13, 1895 at the age of 53. The cause of death was pneumonia. Before his death, he asked for Reverend Thomas Gallaudet, the son of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, to be at his side for spiritual assistance until his death.
