It's a boy!! Samuel was born in 1567, in Brauge,France. When he was 20 he went to war for 5 years.

Land ho!!! Samuel crossed the Atlantic 11 times. On his 11th time he made it to the new world.

Daddy! In 1608 Champlain built the first fort in New France. He was nicknamed the “Father of New France.”

Oh, he is skilled Samuel was trained in navigation and map making. Sometime in his life he wrote a book on how Indians lived.

Champlain's voyage Between 1599 and 1601 Champlain voyaged to the west Indies with a Spanish expedition.

He discovered. In 1609, while traveling with an Indian war party, he discovered the lake that bears his name.

Explored the Ottawa River In 1613 he explored far up the Ottawa River in search of the new lands and more furs.

The New Governor The fur companies had appointed Champlain governor of Quebec in 1612, and he hoped that the tiny settlement would grow into a strong colony.

England and France At War In 1628, while England and France were at war, English ships blockaded Quebec.

1st Voyage In 1603 he made his first voyage to New France as a member of a fur-trading expedition. Champlain first visited Canada in 1603, sailing up the St. Lawrence River as far as Montreal.

Champlain Returned When New France was restored to France in 1632, Champlain returned.
