Classroom News Peek into the week Spelling Pattern Homework Week of September 4, 2018 Parent signature: Mrs. Dasher 912-754-5522 cdasher@effingham.k12.ga.us Peek into the week Spelling Pattern Students will: Reading/Phonics:/Writing read and spell words with short u read Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse; predict, retell, infer, name characters and describe how they behave/change; write an opinion learn that writing is telling a story on paper and write their own story. write sentences using spaces between words, capitalizing the first word and names, and using a period or question mark at the end. Math: count backwards and forwards on a 120 chart and a number line identify numbers that come before and after to 60 identify more and less than a given number and more and less in a set draw and count tally marks answer questions about graphs and tally tables use ten frames to count and represent numbers skip count by 2’s and 5’s use subitizing cards to add and subtract one, two and three Social Studies: Name and identify the 7 continents Short vowel cvc words nut rub sun Homework Complete the following activities found in the homework folder and return all homework to school on Friday inside the homework folder. Front and back of less and more sheet and adding 4 read passage and answer questions (short u) Practice sight words and return booklet on Friday read 4 books and record on your log Parents please sign the newsletter (indicating that you’ve read the info) on the line below the date. Special notes Reminders Ice cream is sold every Wednesday for $1. For the month of September, each student will start the month with the letters PBIS (for positive behavior) and all students have the opportunity to earn the PBIS reward at the end of the month. If a student is not meeting PBIS expectations and a parent contact is made, 1 of the letters will be marked out. If all 4 letters are marked out at the end of the month, that student will not receive the PBIS reward. Make flashcards and practice sight words and phrases in the purple booklets. I will test students each Friday so please return the purple booklet in the homework folders on Friday. I tested on List 1 last Friday and List 2 this week. Next week will be List 3. Students need to be able to say the words and phrases quickly and in any order. I will highlight the words and phrases they know. Please continue to practice the words and phrases that are not highlighted. Students will receive a sticker and a treat for each list they pass. We are having a box tops contest. The class who collects the most will receive a prize. It will go through the month of September. Please send in those box tops. Please cut out and send in Tyson Chicken Labels to help our PE department September: 3: No School-Labor Day holiday 4- progress reports 20- PTSO
