Session I Syllabus Class Requirements Course Calendars Deadlines for Submission of TPA Steps for Effectively Using Task Stream Uploading of Attachments Course Evaluation Plan Resubmission Course Rewrites of TPA Deadlines

Syllabus-Class Requirements TPA 1- Subject Specific Pedagogy Carefully read each case study and the accompanying prompts. Review any notes or drafts you have made regarding the case studies in your ESEC 407, 410 and 413 coursework or ELLB 313, 315/16, 317 and 423 coursework. Draft responses to all case studies on your TaskStream account. Plan to complete and submit this task as soon as possible.

Syllabus-Class Requirements TPA 2- Designing Instruction Identification of class(Multiple Subject students complete the task in their language arts or reading class) Describe the ways you will learn about the students in the class and how you will use the information for instructional planning. Identification of Focus Students (ELL/Challenge) Select academic content standards and learning goals, then plan and describe a lesson Adaptations Reflect on connecting instructional planning to student characteristics

Deadlines for Submission of TPA TPA are to be submitted no later than 11:59pm on Feb 11th!! No Task will be accepted after Task Stream is closed Failure to submit a complete response to Task 1/2 on the due date and during the designated time period will result in a score of 1. This includes any attachments (ie. Permission slips, student work, videos, etc.)

TPA Codes You must be registered in Task Stream and have your TPA codes by Monday, 1/7 MS-SUBJECT SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY-SSPMSW19 SS-SSP- THIS DEPENDS UPON YOUR CREDENTIAL (SEE CODE SHEET) MS-DESIGNING INSTRUCTION MSDITASK2W19 SS-DESIGNING INSTRUCTION SSDITASK2W19

Third Session The third session (Feb 9) will be for the following: Review of turn in procedures Introduction of Common Core Questions and Answers This is a mandatory session

Resubmission Course We have instituted a “Resubmission Course” through the CEL If your completed task does not earn a score of level 3 for whatever reason you will be given the option to resubmit. Students choosing to resubmit must sign up for the Task 1/2 Resubmission Course through the College of Extended Learning. The cost of this course will be $175.00 and must be paid prior to resubmitting. The Resubmission Course will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 from 1 – 4 pm. Attendance is not mandatory but it is highly encouraged, however signing up for the course is required for you to be able to resubmit your task during the resubmission period. If a student does not choose to sign up for the Task 1/2 Resubmission Course, they will be given their original score, receive No Credit in the course and will have to retake the course in the following quarter.

COURSE GUIDELINES If you miss any of the mandatory class meetings you run the risk of being dropped from class and not allowed to submit your task this quarter To be eligible to resubmit via the resubmission courses a student must have submitted a completed task prior to the due date and received a score of 1 or 2.  If a student does not submit a complete task, he or she will be given no credit and will have to take the course over again the following quarter. 

COURSE GUIDELINES (CONT.) Multiple Subject Program Students in Phase I MUST pass at least of one of TPAs 2 and 3 before she/he can do student teaching II. In other words, if a student fails both TPAs 2 and 3, she/he will be dropped from the next quarter student teaching. In addition, to take three TPAs in one quarter, a student will need approval from the program coordinator. Finally, a student will be advised to withdraw from the program after failing any aspects of TPAs three times.    For the Single Subject Students in Phase I MUST pass at least of one of TPAs 1 and 2 before she/he can do student teaching II. In other words, if a student fails both TPAs 1 and 2, she/he will be dropped from the next quarter student teaching. In addition, to take three TPAs in one quarter, a student will need approval from the program coordinator. Finally, a student will be advised to withdraw from the program after failing any aspects of TPAs three times. 

Course Evaluation Plan For both EELB/ESEC 520 A/B, credit received will be based upon “passing” the TPA with at least a score of “3” Also, it is critical that you attend each session so that you will receive the full information on how to complete the TPA

Final Mandatory Class On March 2nd,you will attend a mandatory session that presents information related to the return of your TPA results and Resubmission Process You will be able to see your TPA Results on Task Stream by 10am on March 4th

Future Assignments On Jan 12th, we will go over the TPA 1 and 2 Tasks You will need to submit your list of your focus students on that day. If you need a waiver for a focus student, please submit the form to me ASAP from the CSUSB Website: https://coe.csusb.edu/teacher-education/tpa

Results If you enroll in the “Resubmission Course”, your Rewrite for the TPA will be due no later than Monday, March 18th through Task Stream The TPA’s will be reviewed by an assessor and you will receive your results through Task Stream

Important Dates to Remember You must be registered in Task Stream and have your TPA codes by Monday, Jan 12 Since you will be assigned an assessor, you must be registered and submit your codes. Otherwise, you TPA cannot be reviewed All Tasks are due on Feb 11
