Theme 3: Key terms

Learning goals To provide an overview of the key terms in theme 3 Goodness Sin Disorder Know the 3 levels in which God’s order has faltered

Goodness – the result of being "connected" with God, the source of all good Sin – the breach of the relationship that God established with creation Disorder – to bring a fault into creation, maiming the work of God

What Happened to God's Order? Where are the world and humans not measuring up to the picture of the first Creation account?   On the Personal Level – all the actions and events individuals use to create havoc, disorder, conflict, pain or suffering to themselves or others Examples: lying, stealing, swearing

What Happened to God's Order? . On the Group Level – all the actions and events that happen because of groups, communities, countries that disrupt the good order of life Examples: consumerism, gang violence, war, prejudices such as racism, sexism and ageism This video shows the physical divides within a city, which could lead to segregation listed above.

What Happened to God's Order? 3. On the Natural Level – all the events that are experienced as disasters or catastrophes Examples: earthquakes, storms, disease, death
