SPDG Bidders Webinar Monday April 19, 2010 Louisiana SPDG: Collaborating with LEAs Melanie Lemoine lemoinem@lsu.edu www.lasig2.org

Louisiana SPDG and LEAs Support 15 LEAs in the state Most at District Level Support; Some at School Level Support Goal is to leverage what they are already doing; SPDG should not be separate initiative Collaborate funds across sources Districts sign MOU each year

School Improvement Framework Schools and Districts identify PD needs based on their data Must include certain elements in all PD: Data UDL – Accessible curriculum for all Disproportionality Family Engagement Tiered Model of Interventions for Behavior and Academics

Districts Focus on a Variety of Efforts Literacy Behavior RtI Inclusive Practices

District Allocations Very specific funding formula Incentive Dollars BESE approved Based on number of schools participating Based on number of years in project (decreased over time) Incentive Dollars Districts can increase allocations if they meet certain criteria: Above state average for LRE Above state average for GPS Below state average for out-of-school suspension Zero out pervious year’s allocation

Support as We Move Forward Districts as Mentors for new districts Reduce support intensity to ensure sustainability Scale up practices Ensure changes in practice
