SUPERGRAVITY As a roller coaster reaches the bottom of a slop and begins to go up the next slope, it’s acceleration, combined with the downward pull of gravity, can make you feel 3 ½ times as heavy as you really are! This sensation is called SUPERGRAVITY!

Reading Problem – As a roller coaster car reaches the bottom of a slop and begins to go up the next slope, it’s acceleration, combined with the downward pull of gravity, can make you feel 3 ½ times as heavy as you really are! This sensation is called SUPERGRAVITY! How heavy would a 120 pound person experiencing Supergravity feel! Answer

Multiply 3 ½ × 120 pounds = I would feel…. 420 pounds…. WOW!

Why do we need to learn how to multiply fractions? Are you a…… Chicken - OR - Brave Heart Using math to calculate how I would feel during “Supergravity” would convince me NOT to go on the ride!

Today’s Lesson Over the past several days we have multiplied fractions using visual models. Today, we will learn a more traditional method to multiply fractions and mixed numbers. Let’s get started! Teach lesson via student notes. Not handling super gravity very well.

End of PowerPoint We’ll move directly to our student notes today… Teach lesson via student notes.
