Other Postgraduate Courses Taught Postgraduate Courses School of Clinical Therapies University College Cork Occupational Therapy; Physiotherapy; Speech & Language Therapy About the School MSc Evidence Based Therapy Practice Options to exit with PGCert, PGDip, or take CPD modules The School of Clinical Therapies, UCC consists of the Dept of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and the Department of Speech Hearing Sciences. The School is based in Brookfield Health Sciences, purpose-built, state-of-the-art accommodation opened in 2005. Knowledge transfer and practice that is based on evidence has guided the development of our taught Masters and professional doctorates. Both programmes are flexible (full or part time), modular (CPD modules, PGCert or PG Dip) and based on a local survey of market needs. The programme comprises 90 credits, 60 taught + 30 research credits Modules offered Core modules: 30 credits incl. CT6001 (exit with a PGCert.) Core CT6000 Research Methodologies (15 credits) Core CT6001 Implementing evidence in therapy practice (15 credits) Core CT6005 Thinking reasoning and reflecting (15 credits) Core CT6006 Educating for Practice (15 credits) Option modules: 30 credits (exit with PGDip. in EBTP) Option CT6002 Inter-professional education in healthcare settings (15) Option CT6003 Therapeutic relationship for professional practice (15) Option CT6004 Independent Study (15) Option CT6007 Assessment of Spinal Dysfunction in Physiotherapy Option CT6008 Dysphagia, eating and swallowing (15) Option CT6009 Management of Spinal Dysfunction in Physiotherapy Option OT6010 Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) (15) Option OT6011 Occupational Science (15) Option SL6012 Current Issues in Language Impairment (15) Option SL6013 The Lexicon and language acquisition (15 credits) Option SL6014 Measures speech production & language processing One15 credit module may be taken from another UCC Department or another University Research: 30 credits CT6016 Research study 90 credits in total About the MSc course The MSc (Evidence Based Therapy Practice) is a one-year (12 months) full-time, or two years part-time programme, normally commencing in September. The MSc EBTP is open to occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. It aims to: expand existing professional knowledge through critical reflection on contemporary therapy practice; educate health professionals to Masters level with a commitment to lifelong learning and be grounded in the principles of client-centred, interdisciplinary and evidence-based practice. Other Postgraduate Courses M.Phil and PhD programmes of study The School of Clinical Therapies offer full or part time research degrees, either at Masters level (MPhil) or at doctoral level (PhD) for Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists. The staff in the School have a range of clinical and research expertise for research supervision. Modules are built up according to need and comprises 4 taught modules (120 credits) and research thesis (150 credits).
