YWCA USA 47 States & D.C. 1,300+ Program Sites YWCAs with:   > 30 Program Sites > 20 Program Sites > 15 Program Sites > 10 Program Sites > 5 Program Sites 1-4 Program Sites YWCA is present in 47 states plus Washington, DC, with more than 1,300 program and service sites. 2.2 million women and their families are served annually in 11 major program and service areas. Major programs and services are outcome-aimed and results-measured. YWCAs  --Provide social services and influence social change. --Help women and girls build the skills and relationships necessary to become contributing assets to their families, workplaces, and communities. --Engage in public advocacy to influence institutions and social norms toward racism-free communities with empowered women and peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. YWCAs provide leadership opportunities for women and girls as an empowerment strategy and to further work toward the YWCA mission.   YWCAs help members and participants understand the mission of YWCA and roles they can play in the achievement of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. Governance: The YWCA’s prevailing policy is to be women-led, to: . counter still-evident inequitable societal and institutional norms . ensure women’s and girls’ barrier-free advancement . advocate from a position of first-hand experience to secure a fair share of community, state, and federal resources -- especially to address women’s empowerment, equity, health and safety Nationally, YWCA USA works to shape national policies affecting the lives of women and girls while preserving flexibility for each local Association to plan and implement YWCA mission-based programs that are based on needs expressed by those served and throughout their YWCA community.
