Student Research Grant 2018 Łódź, dn. 1.12.2017 r. Student Research Grant 2018 New opportunities for students interested in scientific activities. The Student Research Grants Program gives you a chance to acquire knowledge about obtaining and settling funds for conducting and presenting your scientific research.

The objectives of the program studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl The objectives of the program The assumption of the Student Research Grants program is to educate students in applying for funding for conducting scientific research. Learning to acquire and settle funds for research. Activation of students to research work. Improving the quality of student’s research at the University of Lodz. Implementation of students for scientific work.

Program participants The program is addressed to students of the University of Lodz (Bachelor and Master studies). The perequisites for acquiring funds are: possesison the student status until the project is settled; settlement of funds obtained in the previous year (not applicable to the first edition of the program); completing training in the preparation and settlement of application to Student Research Grant; obtaining a positive opinion from the project's supervisor; submitting an electronic application on the website:www.studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl. studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl

studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Required documents Documents required to receiving funding under the program: Scientific supervisor’s opinion (academic with at least PhD, who is employed in Lodz Uniceristy; specialist in the scientific field of student’s grant project) Scientific supervisor’s approval of performence of that function Declaration on non-financing of the items included in the cost estimatation from other sources

Objectives of financing studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Objectives of financing Financial resources obtained under the Student Research Grants program can be used to carry out research tasks close to the research profile of a scientific supervisor and research tasks related to the subject of bachelor's, engineering and master's thesis, including: purchase of materials necessary to conducting the research; covering costs of business travel in order to collect material for research; covering costs of analyzes performed as external services; purchase of books, magazines, access to scientific databases; covering costs of trips to scientific conferences in order to present research results; covering costs related to the publication of scientific papers.

The method of financing studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl The method of financing The maximum amount of the Student Research Grant is PLN 3 500 After qualifying the project for financing, the student: receives the granted funding (which may be lower than requested) to the individual bank account specified in the application for financing; is obliged to spending the received funds in accordance with the cost estimation presented in the application for financing; is obliged to collect invoices for verification of disbursement of funding.

Qualification of applications studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Qualification of applications The Student Research Grant Committee qualifies applications for funding on the basis of: application review; opinion of a scientific supervisor; the applicant's previous scientific activity. Less than 80% of applications can receive funding.

Evaluation of applications studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Evaluation of applications Applications are examined by the Student Research Grants Commission, established by the Rector of the University of Lodz. The basis for the evaluation is the review of the application. The reviewer of the application - an employee of the University of Lodz with the title of professor, specified by the Commission. The reviewer must be an employee of the unit (department / chair) other than the scientific supervisor’s.

studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Review of application Reviewer rates an application on the basis of following criteria: the scientific level of the application: 0-30 points; impact of the research task on the applicant's scientific progress: 0-10 points; proper formulation of the purpose of the research and the originality of the presented problem : 0- 15 points; accuracy of choice of research methods and tools: 0-10 points; the resonableness of funding in view of the indicated research tasks and the chosen research method: 0-15 points.

studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Report of the grant The funds granted as part of the Student Research Grant should be expended by the September 30th, according to the presented cost estimation. Funds may be spent up until December 15th only with Rector’s approval. The report must include following documents: substantive and financial reports on the implementation of a student research grant, which should be submitted within 30 days of completing the research task in writing; opinion of a scientific supervisor assessing the performance of the research task and evaluating the progress of the student's research work.

Acceptance of the reports studenckiegranty.uni.lodz.pl Acceptance of the reports Requirements for a final report to be considered by the Commission are Information of at least one article published or sent for publication in a scientific journal included in current lists of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education or in the chapter of a scientific monograph (with attached typescript, applied for both) or Documents that prove participation in scientific conferences, on which the student presented the results of research financed from the allocated funds. Non-acceptance of the report results in the loss of the possibility to apply for financing of a student research grant in the following year. The Commission may oblige the student to return unspent funds.
