Bell Challenge Invitation to Compare & Contrast Compare & contrast the model sentence from yesterday with the imitation sentence below. Model Sentence His room smelled of cooked grease, Lysol, and age. Imitation Sentence Hector’s room smelled of Hot Cheetos, gym socks, and lies. How are they alike & different? Both sentences are about male subjects, but the model sentences uses a pronoun to define the subject and the imitation sentences use a proper noun. Both sentences use imagery to describe the smell in the room. Both sentences use serial commas in their descriptions of the room. The model sentence description speaks of oldness in its use of idioms while the imitation sentence speaks of youthfulness in its use of idioms.

Criteria for Success… At the end of today’s lesson, we will analyze poetic language to determine the effect it has on the text for the reader.
