The United Students of Metcalf Metcalfonomics

Economics Is about learning to participate in our government, our society, our economy, and our world. Therefore, as you enter Economics, you are now participating in our government and our economy. In order to do this you will live according to a constitution and you will be employed.

The President I, President Metcalf of the United Students of Metcalf am hiring you to work for me. Your job is to be the best economics student that you can be. You will receive pay and a grade as compensation for classwork and homework.

Ways to earn money Starting salary: $1200 Payday is every Friday Government jobs such as banker, custodian, police, etc. Use your entrepreneurial spirit and find a way to earn income.

Ways to lose money Rent: Since you are in my classroom, you must also pay rent. So far, rent has been free. You will select a desk to rent on a first-come, first serve basis. Your claim to the seat entitles you to hold it for a week. Every Monday, you may select a new seat, again on first-come basis.

Rents are as follows per week All seats will be occupied. 1st row 2nd Row 3rd Row 4th Row

Your Grade You earn points toward a participation grade each week. Part of the grade is attendance, part of the grade is participation. You will lose points if you get fired.

Money! You will be given denominations of 25, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 and 10,000 to start.

Track Your Progress: You will receive a “Cash Accounting Sheet”. Every time that you receive money or pay money, you must make an entry. You will be given the $100 “on-time” bonus so that you can make an entry.

Final Thoughts: Obviously you want to earn money. At the end of the quarter you will add up your income. That is worth points.
