Presentation transcript:

Entering the classroom → When you enter the classroom, read the “Start Up Directions” and then please move to your assigned table group. → Once at your seat, begin working on your Start Up Question for the day.

Walking around the classroom → If Mr. Mustonen, or anyone else, is presenting/talking in front of the class, please stay in your seat. → You may leave your seat if Mr. Mustonen gives you permission to do so.

Asking Questions → If you have a question, please raise your hand and wait for your turn to speak. → If Mr. Mustonen is giving directions, please wait until the directions are finished before asking a question. → Please try and keep questions on-topic.

Materials for class → You will *always* need to bring a pencil, your Social Studies folder, and your Journal to class. → Please also bring any HW, books, or other materials listed on the board.

Journals → Most classwork will be glued in a spiral or composition Notebook. This will be called your Journal → You may leave your Journal in class on your Core’s shelf in the Journal cabinet. You may also bring your Journal home, but it is your responsibility. → These Journals will not be collected. You can use them to study from for quizzes and tests.

Number Tables → Each table group has a specific number assigned to it. You may sit at any seat at the table, but you must sit at your assigned table. → We will rotate tables every four weeks. → Mr. Mustonen reserves the right to change your seats whenever he feels the need to.

Leaving the classroom → Only two people are allowed outside of the classroom at a time. → To leave the classroom you must: 1. Ask Mr. Mustonen for permission 2. Fill out your planner 3. Bring your planner with you

Objectives → We will always have two objectives in our class: a Content Objective and a Languages Objective. → These are the goals we want to accomplish by the end of the lesson. → Our Content Objective will be about Social Studies and our Language Objective will be about reading, writing, or speaking skills.

Classroom Library → You may “check out” books from our classroom library before class, after class, or if you finish your classwork early. → You must write your name, the title of the book, and the date you checked the book out. → When you return the book, write the date you returned the book. Books are due back in two weeks.

Buzzfeed → This board is about the most recent buzzzz in our classroom. → Check here to see our weekly agenda, homework assignments, due dates, and other info! → If a due date or target date changes, I will make an announcement before pointing it out.

Textbook Cabinet → This cabinet contains your textbooks for this class. You will be assigned a textbook number for each book. → You will not take textbooks home. → Any work that requires the textbook will be completed in class.

Journal Cabinet → This cabinet is where 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Cores may keep their Journals. 4th Core’s Journals are in the back cabinet. → Your Journal is your responsibility. If you lose it, then you must re-do each entry. → Journal entries and a Table of Contents will be posted on our class blog.

Work to Beeee Proud of → Classwork, homework, projects, or any other assignment hanging here is of exceptional quality. → Only one of your assignments will be displayed on this board, but everyone has a chance to have their work on the board.

Parking Lot → If you have a question that we were not able to answer, did not have time to get to, or just forgot to ask, leave it on a sticky note on our Parking Lot. → I will check the Parking Lot at the end of each day. → Please write your name and hour on the back of the sticky note.

Bee-utiful Word Wall → The words on our Word Wall are words you need to know. We will have gone over them in class. → They are labled with the date that we learned them. For example: “Insubordination(9-6)”.

Supply Station → Here you can find supplies like colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors, pens, highlighters, and pencils. → These are yours to use for class use. Whatever is lost, destroyed, used, or taken will not be replaced. → You are sharing these with other classes. Please be gentle!

Turn-In Trays → If you have classwork or homework, turn them into these trays based on your hour. → I will empty these trays at the end of each day.

Missing Work/Notes Storage → If you miss a day in class then it is your responsibility to check the missing work/notes storage. → If you have questions about the work/notes, ask Mr. Mustonen before class, if you finish your work, or after class. → At the end of the Card Marking, all items in the Missing Work/Notes Storage are recycled.

Busy Hives → If you find any news stories that relate to Social Studies or something we talked about in class, bring them in! I’ll hang them up here. → Think of it like our “Current Events” board.

Mr. Mustonen’s Desk → Like a cat, Mr. Mustonen is very territorial, so please use the supplies at the Supply Station. → If you would like to borrow something off his desk, please ask for permission. → There is a line on the floor behind his desk. Please stay behind the line.

Volume Levels → The Conversation Clip on our Volume Levels chart shows what the correct volume level at the moment. → The levels are: 1-Silence is expected; individual work 2-Whisper voice 3-Conversation voice; used in group work 4-Teacher voice; used in presentations 5-Yelling, shrieking, loud noises; rarely allowed
