2018 Scholarship Winner Laurie Muok is incredibly honored to be receiving the 2018 SWE-ASHRAE NY Scholarship.  Laurie lives in Syracuse with her mom, twin sister, Christy, and dog, Cuddles. She is a rising junior at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering. When she isn't in class or studying, Laurie works as a Teaching Assistant in the General Engineering Department and is an active participant in TRIO, The National Society of Black Engineers, Hall Council, and the Society of Women Engineers. Additionally, Laurie spends her Saturday afternoons mentoring the robotics team that she founded in high school via Skype. Upon graduation, Laurie plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.

2018 Scholarship Winner Anisha Tyagi is an upcoming sophomore pursuing Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. A current member of the SWE chapter at Columbia, Anisha is incredibly passionate about promoting a career in STEM to young females. She plans to pursue a career in creating medical devices and hopes to inspire other young women along her way. Outside of SWE, Anisha is involved in the Journal of Global Health, Women in Medicine, and does research at the Columbia University Medical Center.

2018 Scholarship Winner Rebecca Grech is a rising senior at Manhattan College, pursuing a degree in civil engineering. She is president of the college’s student chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), a co-lead of the school’s Concrete Canoe Team, the treasurer of Manhattan’s student chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the previous civil engineering representative for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) remaining an active member this year. Rebecca also volunteers with the Lasallian Outreach Collaborative and enjoys the outdoors. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in Construction Management based on her internship experience and aims to become a licensed Professional Engineer in the future.
