Bright Futures Essential question: How can I set myself up to earn a Bright Futures Scholarship?

4 Types of Scholarship Florida Academic Scholars Award (FAS) = 100% of tuition and fees, plus $300 for textbooks Florida Medallion Scholars Award (FMS) = 75% of tuition and fees Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award (GSV) = $39 per credit hour for career certificate or applied technology diploma programs, or $48 per credit hour for technical or bachelors programs Florida Gold Seal Cape Scholars Award (GSC) = same funding as GSV

Florida Academic Scholars Award 3.5 weighted GPA (16 core courses) 2 credits of the same foreign language 100 hours of community service SAT: 1290, or ACT: 29

Florida Medallion Scholars Award 3.0 weighted GPA (16 core courses) 2 credits of the same foreign language 75 hours of community service SAT: 1170 or ACT: 26

Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award 3.0 weighted GPA 3 sequential CTE courses, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in those courses 30 hours of community service SAT: 440 on each section or ACT: 17 in English and 19 in Reading and Math, or PERT: 106 in Reading, 103 in Writing, and 114 in Math

Florida Gold Seal Cape Scholars Award 5 postsecondary credit hours through CAPE industry certifications Aviation Assembly, Administrative Office Specialist, Digital Media/Multi-Media, Automotive, Tech Design, Outboard Marine, Early Childhood 30 hours of community service

Volunteer Hours Step 1: Fill out a Proposal (requires parent signature and signature from your school counselor)

Volunteer Hours Step 2: Complete and log your hours (requires supervisor signature) Step 3: Turn in your logs to your school counselor

What doesn’t count? Court mandated community service Hours that you’re paid for Chores for family members Donating money, food, blood, etc. Activities without an adult supervisor Hours required for academic credit Proselytizing
