Ms. Breckenridge, Mrs. Williams, Second Grade CLASSROOM NEWS The Week of February 19-23, 2018 Ms. Breckenridge, Mrs. Williams, Ms. Wright, Mrs. Holland School Contact Info: (225) 222- 3715 What We Are Learning Homework Below are homework assignment and/or skills to review at home with your child. ELA:  Analyze poetry for a central message, comparing and contrasting ideas across texts on similar topics. Sentences using spelling words and vocabulary words. Math: Complete math worksheets. Spelling Words: Good, Start, Wrong, Stop, Right, Happy, Bad, Small, Sad, Big High frequency words: review anything, arm, brother, beautiful, because, bus, behind, believe. Monday- Use spelling words 1-5 in a sentence, write 3 synonyms for 1-5 spelling words, read daily. Tuesday- Use spelling words 6-10 in a sentence, write 3 synonyms for 6-10 spelling words, read daily. Wednesday- Use vocabulary words 1-5 in a sentence, read daily. Thursday– use vocabulary words 6-10 in a sentence, read daily. Study for quiz. Vocabulary Words: Travel, Overcome, Marched, Whined, Abide, Battered, Cradled, Hurried, Soared, Throbbed English & Language Arts (ELA) Reading: “The Best Place”, Your World What are we learning as we read? Analyzing poetry for a central message, comparing and contrasting ideas across texts on similar topics on houses and homes. Math: Continue reviewing addition and subtraction with regrouping, Place Value disks and Money Science & Social Studies: Homes & Houses Around the World /Pioneers in Black History Our Learning Reminders/ Important Dates After school Tutoring- Tuesday-Thursday
