DISABILITY AND DIVERSITY STUDIES CERTIFICATE PROGRAM Course: DIS 687 -Seminar on Disability Issues Semester:  Spring 2008 Instructor: Dr. Steven E. Brown CRN: 88253 When: Wednesday, 4:30-7:00 pm Where: Wist Hall, Rm. 128 Email: sebrown@hawaii.edu GOAL: A seminar offering an in-depth exploration of compelling topics related to advancing the social, political, and economic integration of individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families in partnership with allies and professionals working in the field. WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?  Graduate students, from a variety of disciplines, including education, social sciences, law, social work, political science, American studies, ethnic studies, and other disciplines. Students interested in diverse educational, multicultural, and disability points of view. YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW: This is one of the courses included in the Disability and Diversity Studies Certificate Program, http://www.cds.hawaii.edu.certificates/ This seminar class will focus on in-depth exploration of contemporary topics in disability studies and be inclusive of diverse viewpoints which include disability awareness, policy, and cultural perspectives. Courses offered in the Certificate program have been used by students to complete requirements for a minor or cognate in their masters or doctoral program.
